HACIENDA TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT PLAN |
 |
Early in 2010, the City Council confirmed a 21-member Task Force with the mission of drafting guidelines and development regulations that will be used to evaluate mixed use or residential projects on sites near and including the Pleasanton/Dublin BART station. The idea of creating a lively, pedestrian-oriented, mixed use development with additional housing near BART in the Hacienda business park is embodied in Pleasanton’s new General Plan and is seen as consistent with the Plan’s sustainable development theme. In addition, three owners of property close to the BART station expressed interest in the potential for residential or mixed use development, rather than building the office/R&D development which was already entitled.
Task Force representatives include two City Council members, two Planning Commissioners, owners of the three vacant commercial properties, and representatives from BART, the Pleasanton Unified School District, Hacienda residential tenants and owners, the Hacienda management company, and five city at-large members chosen by the City Council. The Task Force is meeting monthly and receives input from the Advisory/Stakeholder group which is open to the public. The building trades, local affordable housing advocates, and organizations such as Greenbelt Alliance are represented on the Advisory/Stakeholder group.
