Theater:  Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

Living with his little brother, Fudge, makes Peter Hatcher feel like a fourth grade nothing.  Fudge is a two-year-old terror who gets away with everything and when Fudge walks off with Dribble, Peter's pet turtle, it's the last straw. How can he get his parents to pay attention to him for a change?  Find out as Civic Arts Stage Company presents Judy Blume’s classic story in its signature whimsical and whacky, thought-provoking way.

Lucky us!  This hit-happy pop/rock band of the ‘70s and ‘80s has reconvened and will entertain us once again. Three of the original band members, David Jenkins, Cory Lerios and Steve Price, along with Larry Antonino, perform new versions of hits such as “A Place in the Sun” and “Love Will Find A Way” and will answer the perennial question, “Who’s Pablo Cruise?”  He’s the “guy in the middle”, of course!

Reprising their SOLD OUT performance of last Memorial Day Weekend, The Swingin’ Blue Stars of the USS Hornet return to the Firehouse.  Their saucy and sweet swing music will remind you of the 1940s music that filled USOs around the world during World War II.  These five female vocalists perform the music made popular by groups such as Andrews Sisters, “In the Mood,” “The Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B” and more!

You’re in for a rare treat! Come to the Harrington Gallery and view this exciting array of works -- watercolors, oils, pastels, sculptures, photography -- by extraordinary Bay Area artists.  This season’s juror is award-winning Berkeley painter, photographer and video artist Kim Anno.  She is Professor and Chair of the Painting Department at California College of Art in Oakland and has exhibited her work nationally and internationally.

People Magazine wrote, “Their music stirs the soul and moves the spirit.”  Serendipity brought lyricist/singer Cilette Swann and composer/musician/producer Roman Morykit together in Scotland in 1990 where they discovered a musical kinship and formed Gypsy Soul.  Good fortune brought the pair to the U.S. where their music video Silent Tears reached the Top 40.  Since that time, Gypsy Soul has released ten albums, a live DVD and have sold over 1.5 million downloads worldwide.  Don’t miss them!
