What You Get For Your Money / Fee Classifications

The Amador Theater is owned and operated by the City of Pleasanton. Because of the popularity of this facility, all interested parties must complete a Use Request form and return it to Rob Vogt, Amador Theater Supervisor. To obtain this form, please call (925) 931-3456 or e-mail: rvogt@ci.pleasanton.ca.us. For general information, please read on.

What You Get for Your Money

  1. Basic Use - 6 hours

Basic use includes the use of the theater for set-ups, rehearsals and performances and is for six hours.  Your fee includes the presence of two City Staff Members.  One is responsible for the overall supervision of the facility.  The other is available to render technical assistance to your organization.  The basic use also includes the use of all available theater equipment.  (* List of equipment available upon request.) Please remember that you and your staff are ultimately responsible for accomplishing your load-ins, set-ups, light hangs, strikes, clean-ups, etc.  City staff is there to supervise and assist you.  One set of stage grounds plans will be provided to the Lessee upon request.  A charge will be made for additional copies.

  2. Hourly Rate

Should your use exceed six hours, you will be charged an additional hourly rate.  Portions of one hour will not be prorated.  Please note that you are expected to set up and clean up within the six hours basic use or you will be liable for this additional charge.

  3. House Management

This fee provides for complete House Management and Usher services and is per performance.

  4. Board Technician
You may wish to add additional light & sound Board Technicians for your rehearsals and performance.  This service is charged to you on an hourly basis.

  5. Beverage Bar

The fee allows you to use the refreshment facility during your basic six-hour use of the theater.  See General Rules concerning its use.  The beverage bar must be rented if serving refreshments anywhere in the facility.

  6. Grand Piano

This fee allows you to use the Yamaha C-7 Conservatory Grand Piano for a basic six-hour use.  This fee does not include tuning services (please see Piano Tuning).  There is no charge for the use of the upright piano or the Spinet warm-up piano.

  7. Piano Tuning

Piano tuning is not included in any other fees.  Use of the City-designated tuner for the Grand Piano is mandatory and shall be handled through the Theater Supervisor.

  8. Technical Set-Up Technicians (includes Hang-Focus-Load)

The overall responsibility to successfully load in, set up, hang and focus and strike is yours.  You may wish to supplement your technical crew with City Staff.  City Staff can be hired to hang and focus lights, install your pre-built scenery, set up sound, etc.  Tech set-ups are accomplished when you are not in the theater for other purposes.  Contact Theater Supervisor to arrange this service and to get a quote.  Additional technical support is subject to availability.

Fee Classifications

There are four fee classifications. These reflect the City of Pleasanton's desire to support locally based, community performing arts groups, provide 60 days free use of the facility for the Pleasanton Unified School District and, at the same time, provide the community with the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of performing arts experiences. Your priority status with regard to making advanced theater reservations is also determined by your classification.

Your fee and reservation priority will depend upon where your organization fits within the following classifications

Priority Classification of Groups

Priority A: Sponsored Groups

Sponsored groups are designated by meeting the requirements indicated below.

  • Pleasanton Unified School District. 60 days free facility use. (Does not include additional technician services.)
