Residents of Alameda County are represented by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. The County is divided into five districts. Pleasanton is in District 1 and is represented by Supervisor Scott Haggerty. Supervisors serve for four-year terms.
Examples of matters within the jurisdiction of the County include planning and public safety in unincorporated areas of the county, (e.g., Sunol), property taxes, document recording, county health services, traffic and transportation policy and management.
