Learn Life-Saving Skills

Since emergency personnel will be overwhelmed during the first 72 hours following a large disaster, it is essential that you learn life-saving skills to help yourselves, your family and your neighbors.  The following classes are offered by Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department:


FREE One-Hour Disaster Preparedness Course

Disasters such as an earthquake, fire or flood can strike quickly and without warning.  Learn steps you can take to prepare today. 

Classes are customized for groups of 20 or more people, including:

  • Businesses
  • Schools and PTA’s
  • Neighborhoods
  • Community groups, etc.

CERT Training for Individuals

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program trains you to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations at home and in the community. Learn how to be self-sufficient during the first 72 hours following a disaster. Training includes:

  • Disaster First Aid
  • Basic Fire Fighting
  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Damage Assessment
  • Utility Control
  • Light Search and Rescue
  • Hands-on Disaster Exercise

Group Customized CERT Training

Is your neighborhood, community group, business or school prepared?  Sign up as a group, and LPFD will customize the class to meet your needs.  Class size is 20-30 people.

CPR

American Heart Association adult, infant and child CPR certification class.  Students receive a two year certification card.  This is not a course for healthcare providers. 

Learn:

  • CPR techniques
  • Relief of choking techniques
  • Warning signs of heart attack and stroke

First Aid

American Heart Association certification class.  Learn:

  • How to control bleeding
  • Care of fractures
  • Treatment of minor injuries
  • Treatment of shock and burn victims
