My Abandonment by Peter Rock. A thirteen-year-old girl and her father live in Forest Park, an enormous nature preserve in Portland, Oregon. Once a week they go to the city to buy groceries and otherwise merge with the civilized world. Their home is discovered and they take flight.

Inspired by a true story and told through the startlingly sincere voice of its young narrator, Caroline, My Abandonment is a riveting journey into life at the margins and a mesmerizing tale of survival and hope.

Mortgage
Information

Wednesday
May 23
1:00pm

Would you like to turn your equity into cash and make needed home repairs, pay off your existing mortgage or just have additional financial security to do the things in life you always wanted to?  Well, it may be possible!  ECHO Housing is a non-profit Housing Counseling Agency approved by HUD to provide free information and education regarding Reverse Mortgages.

A Reverse Mortgage is a loan against home equity that provides cash advances to a homeowner.  No repayment is required until the end of the term, or when the home is sold.  Many of today’s Reverse Mortgages allow the homeowner to reside in the home for the rest of his/her life, even if he/she outlives the value of the home.

Cherisse Baptiste, Alameda County Reverse Mortgage Counselor, will speak on Reverse Mortgages at the Pleasanton Library.  For more information call Mrs. Baptiste at 1/510/581-9380, ext 19.
