Injured Animals

Stray, lost/found, and wild animals that are sick or injured should be reported to the Police Department immediately at (925) 931-5100.

An Animal Services Officer or Police Officer will respond to evaluate the animal. Injured or sick domestic animals will be transported to an emergency veterinary hospital. The Police Department currently contracts with Vetcare Emergency & Specialist Care Center, a 24 hour seven days a week emergency veterinary hospital in Dublin.

If your pet becomes ill or is injured, you should call your veterinarian or the one nearest to you. Local veterinarians' phone numbers can be located in the Yellow Pages of the phone book. After normal business hours, on weekends or holidays, you can call the emergency clinic at:

Vetcare Emergency & Specialist Care Center
7660 Amador Valley Blvd.
Dublin, CA 94568
(925) 556-1234

Dead animals found on a roadway, in a park, or any public place should be reported to the main Police Department phone number at (925) 931-5100.

If your pet dies, you may:

  • Contact your veterinarian to arrange cremation services at your expense.
  • Take it to the East County Animal Shelter for disposal.
  • Request pick up and disposal by an Animal Services Officer for a fee.
