The Pleasanton Police Department is proud to offer our Citizens' Police Academy to the public as we continue to build on the tremendous partnership we enjoy with our community.
The goals of the Academy are to create closer partnerships with the community, educate and explain principles and procedures of law enforcement, and discuss the importance of public involvement in the policing process. Classes are taught by Police Department personnel and subject matter experts from other agencies and/or community groups.
The Citizens Police Academy is usually held in the Spring and lasts fourteen sessions. Classes meet once a week on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at the Pleasanton Police Department.
The Citizens Police Academy is offered only to adults who live or work in the City of Pleasanton. Applicants are carefully screened, must be free of any felony convictions, convictions of certain misdemeanor crimes and have no arrests within one year of application, sign confidentiality and waiver agreements, and successfully complete a background investigation check.
