The Pleasanton Police Department V.I.P.S Program consists of a dedicated group of community-minded citizens who volunteer their time to assist the Police Department in a variety of ways. We greatly appreciate the dedication of our V.I.P.S. members and hold them in very high esteem for their commitment to their community and desire to make a difference.
Volunteer areas of participation: |
- Citizens on Patrol
- Foot Patrol during Community Events
- Investigations Follow-up
- Parking Enforcement
- Records
|
- Special Projects
- Training
- Traffic Control
- Vacation Checks
- And much more
|
Our volunteers come from many walks of life and age groups so we make every attempt to match their interests and skills with the needs of the Department. Their motivation for volunteering is as unique as their individual backgrounds. Some want to stay active after retirement, some are looking to give to the community they live in, and others want to gain exposure for future law enforcement careers. Many of our current volunteers are graduates of our Citizens Police Academy and became interested in volunteering after being exposed to our organization and our commitment to our community.
Volunteer Requirements:
V.I.P.S. are carefully screened prior to becoming accepted into our program. They are required to be adults, should live or work in the City of Pleasanton, must be free of any felony convictions, have no misdemeanor convictions of certain types of offenses, have no misdemeanor arrests within one year of application, sign confidentiality and waiver agreements, pass an oral interview process and successfully complete a thorough background investigation.
For more information about the V.I.P.S. Program, contact Sgt. Maria Munayer at (925) 931-5169.
