The Pleasanton Police Explorer Program provides young men and women an opportunity to experience how a police department functions and to prepare for a challenging career in law enforcement. The program is part of the "Learning for Life" school-career based education program. The goal of the program is to provide basic law enforcement training to teens and provide positive teen activities through community involvement.
The Police Explorer Program teaches teens about law enforcement through a "hands on" approach. Explorers receive training in various aspects of criminal law, police procedures, laws of arrest, and crime scene investigation. They also participate as ride-a-long observers with officers on patrol and serve the community at community events, searching for lost or missing persons and assisting with other services provided by the police department when needed. Explorers wear uniforms that they purchase and hold positions of rank within their organized structure.
The requirements to apply are: |
