Drug, vice, and gang issues are handled primarily by the Special Enforcement Unit.  A Sergeant and three police officers staff the Unit.  The three officers have individual specialties ranging from narcotics to gangs, vice issues and sex registrants, but each officer receives cross training in each area. 

The main goal of the Unit is to address various street crime issues in the City as they impact the quality of life of our community.  This includes the sale and manufacturing of controlled substances.  Drugs are not exclusive to Pleasanton and drug dealers do not follow jurisdictional boundaries when it comes to law enforcement.  Many drug dealers in fact do not actually live in the city limits, but their activity affects us.  In dealing with this reality the detectives continually work with other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in their battle against illegal drugs and their impact on Pleasanton Residents.

Drugs most abused in Pleasanton are alcohol, marijuana, methamphetamine, GHB, and Ecstasy (MDMA).

The Pleasanton Police Department now offers residents the ability to report suspicious activity related to drug sales or abuse online.

If the incident you are reporting is of an emergency nature or requires immediate attention please contact us at (925) 931-5100 or (925) 931-5122 instead of reporting the incident online.

Online reporting should only be used to report incidents that do not require immediate attention or investigation as the reporting system is not continuously monitored by police personnel.

Your report will be sent directly to the Special Enforcement Unit Supervisor for review and assignment.  A copy of this report may not be permanently retained by our agency after the incident has been addressed by staff.  Your submission of drug related complaints/issues is considered informational and helps the Police Department address reoccurring drug related issues.  If you require a formal complaint please contact the Police Department at (925) 931-5100.
