The Pleasanton Police Department Special Weapons and Tactic's (S.W.A.T.) team consists of 20 members: a team leader, eleven Police Officers who are tactical specialists, an additional Police Officer trained as a medic, a volunteer who is a tactically trained trauma surgeon from the Community, and a 5 member Hostage Negotiation Team. Team members initially undergo 80 hours of F.B.I. SWAT school training, followed by an additional 20 hours of monthly training. The team also works and trains with K-9 Officers to handle a variety of situations.
Our team is fully prepared to respond to any potentially life threatening situation or terrorist threat within the City. Team members are trained to handle hostage rescue, barricaded suspects, high-risk search warrant service, surveillance, crowd control, executive protection and other specialized public safety functions.
