Traffic Unit

The Pleasanton Police Traffic Unit consists of one Lieutenant, a Sergeant, six motorcycle officers and two Community Service Officers.

The officers in the traffic unit are responsible for investigating injury traffic collisions, issuing traffic citations and responding to traffic complaints. They are also involved in traffic education programs, commercial vehicle enforcement, conduct inspections of taxis and tow trucks operating in the City and participate in special enforcement campaigns.

The motor officers are assigned geographic districts of responsibility. The City is organized into three districts with two officers assigned to each district. While the officers can still enforce traffic violations anywhere in the City, this allows them to focus on specific areas that have generated complaints and most often meet directly with the complaining citizen to evaluate and help solve the problem. Each traffic team is also responsible for the schools within their district and the commercial areas.
