The Pleasanton Police Department schedules individual child car seat check appointments approximately twice a month on varying days and times. These checks are held at the Police Department and are available to Pleasanton residents as well as to those who work in Pleasanton. Child car seat checks are provided to educate parents, grandparents, caregivers, etc. on the proper methods of car seat installation and child safety.

Such seat checks are performed by police personnel who have been specially trained and certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in child safety seat installation and inspection. In order to become certified, these Police Department employees have attended a rigorous 40-hour school, have taken a comprehensive written exam and have performed a practical field demonstration.

It is recommended to call for an appointment at least 1-2 months prior to the desired date by which the car seat is required.  Space is limited and appointments fill up quickly.  Appointments are scheduled in 30-minute increments for each car seat inspection.
