Aquatics

The City of Pleasanton - Community Services Department offers a number of classes and activities through its Aquatics Program at various times of the year. Depending upon the season, these can include:

  • Recreational and Lap Swimming;
  • Adult and Teen Swim Lessons;
  • Swim Team;
  • Competitive Stroke Lessons;
  • Red Cross Certification classes (Lifeguard Training, Junior Guard, Basic Water Rescue, Water Safety Instructor);
  • Learn to Swim Program;
  • Water Fitness classes (Water Exercise, Sunrise Workout, Deep Water Workout, Aqua Aerobics - shallow water)
  • Pool Play Time (Summer season only)
  • Beginning and Advanced Diving classes (Summer only)
  • Adapted Aquatics (for individuals unable to participate in the Learn to Swim Program due to a disability); (Summer only)
  • Private Lessons

The Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center also plays host to several major swim meets every year.

Location and Hours of Operation: All classes and activities are held at the Aquatic Center, 4455 Black Avenue, within the Amador Valley Community Park complex. Lap Swim Hours:

Monday, Wednesday & Friday        6:00 – 10:00 a.m.

Monday through Friday                11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Monday through Thursday             5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday                                        7:30 – 10:00 a.m.

 

These are year-round hours.  Schedule may change due to holiday or swim meet.

Looking for a job? The Community Services Department looks for energetic, responsible people to work as cashiers, lifeguards, swim instructors or pool maintenance specialists, particularly during the summer. Certain positions require Red Cross certification, and training for certification can be provided.
