Gingerbread Preschool

Gingerbread Preschool has over a 30-year history in the Pleasanton Community.  The program is provided through the Pleasanton Community Services Department. Gingerbread Preschool is a part-time, recreational program in which children learn through play and the process of participating in activities.  The actual process will be encouraged, not the end product.  It is our goal to provide a foundation from which each child will enjoy success in future learning.  Most of all we honor each child - It's THEIR WORK, THEIR IDEAS, and THEIR FUN!

Our program provides children with an opportunity to experience a classroom setting prior to Kindergarten.  This experience may be the first time your child has participated in any activity independent of you.  Our program is not a parent cooperative program and parents are not present in the classroom on a regular basis.  This is purposeful; as one of our goals for your child is to be able to successfully separate from you, participate fully in the classroom routine and then happily reunite with you at the end of class.  We believe participation in our program, two or three times per week, allows your child to adjust to this newfound independence successfully without being overwhelmed.

Activities are developmentally appropriate and are structured to encourage development and growth in social skills, motor skills, creativity and basic learning skills.  Our program day is structured and requires children to participate as a member of the classroom community during specific times, such as, circle time, snack time and outdoor play.  We also provide an opportunity for a child to select activities they wish to participate in such as art, blocks and dramatic play.
