The City and local sports organizations offer a wide variety of sports for the young and young at heart.  Unless otherwise noted, check the Activity Guide and Registration link to the left for more information on any of the listings below.

ADULT SPORTS

Open Gym Basketball Information: Open gym Basketball at Harvest Park Middle School, (4900 Valley Avenue) on Saturdays and on Monday and Wednesday at Hart Middle School, is available to Pleasanton residents only.

  • Saturday mornings 6:00-8:00 am
  • Monday nights 8:00-10:00 pm
  • Wednesday nights 8:00-10:00 pm

Admission is by pass only. No cash or checks will be accepted at the Gym. All passes must be purchased in advance. Participants are required to sign-in at each visit.

Punch passes are valid for 15 uses for $45.00. (Punch passes have no expiration date.) Single day admission passes are $3.25.

  • In Person: Punch Passes and single day admission passes ($3.25 each) are available at the Pleasanton Community Services office, located at 200 Old Bernal Avenue, Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

  • Online: http://online.activecommunities.com/pleasanton - Click on the Activities tab; click Adults; click Sports. If punch pass is purchased online, bring your receipt to the gym and your pass will be issued.

  • By mail: Download order form. Punch pass will be mailed to you.

Basketball:  The City offers an adult basketball program, with league play lasting 10-11 weeks.  There are several men’s divisions. You can also drop-in a play a pick up game during Open Gym hours on Monday, Wednesday evenings and Saturday morning.

Bocce:  The City offers beginner and advanced divisions in its Bocce League.  Courts are located at Centennial Community Park, next to the Senior Center.

Soccer:  During Fall and Spring, the Pleasanton Adult Sunday Soccer League operates Co-ed, Co-ed Premier, and Co-ed Masters divisions.  For more information, visit their website or call (925) 426-7277.

Softball:  The City’s Adult Softball Program offers two leagues play that starts in April and August.  Games are held on Sunday-Friday evenings.  Teams and individual players are welcome.

Tennis:  The City’s Tennis Center offers 3 levels of adult lessons, as well as classes for skill development, such as reaching a particular rating, drills, improving your serve, return, lobs, backhand, topspin and underspin.  We also offer Corporate Friday lessons, cardio tennis sessions.  League play for doubles (ladies’, men’s, mixed) and singles challenge ladder are also offered.  Courts are available on a reservation or drop-in basis for open play.  Ball machines can be rented also.

Volleyball:  The City offers an adult volleyball program with lower and upper divisions.  You can also drop-in a play a game during Open Gym hours on Sunday evenings.

Open Gym Volleyball Punch Passes

Open Gym Volleyball is held at Pleasanton Middle School on Sundays from 6:00-9:00pm.  15-day punch cards are available for purchase online at http://online.activecommunities.com/pleasanton.  Single day admission passes are $4.75 for residents and $5.75 for non-residents and must be purchased in advance at the Community Services Dept. located at 200 Old Bernal Avenue.  No cash or checks will be accepted at the Gym effective Feb. 8, 2010. Golf:  Callippe Preserve Golf Course us the City’s newest facility. In addition to regular course play, you can take golf lessons, practice at the driving range, buy golf equipment at the pro shop and eat at the clubhouse.

YOUTH SPORTS

Baseball:  Youth baseball is offered by 3 different organizations:

Basketball: Pleasanton Youth Basketball (PYB) Come out and join us for a fun filled season of basketball! Your child will work on fundamentals at their one hour a week practice, and then be able to apply those skills in an official game each week. Players will be placed on teams according to grade level, and each team is assigned a coach and a weekday practice time. Teams will also have 2 Saturday practices in December before official games begin. Games will be played on Saturdays beginning in January until mid-March. All skill levels welcome.

Lacrosse: Pleasanton Lacrosse provides league play during Spring and Summer.  For more information, visit their website.

Soccer:  The City is proud to offer the Kidz Love Soccer program, which gives children ages 3½ to 12 the chance to learn basic soccer skills.  Courses run for 6 weeks and are held at Amador Valley Community Park.  For the younger set (ages 2-3½), we also offer Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer, which allows little ones to develop socialization and large motor skills.

Pleasanton Rage Girls Soccer Association (PGSA) and Ballistic United Soccer Club (BUSC) offer opportunities for further soccer skill development, as well as competitive play.  For more information, visit their website.

Roller Hockey:  Through the Mini-Hockey Stars program, kids from 3-6 are introduced to roller hockey equipment and techniques, as well as get exercise, make friends, learn listening skills, develop teamwork and have fun. 

Rugby: The Pleasanton Cavaliers Rugby Football Club is looking for new players. Any one interested please visit our website at www.pleasantonrugbyclub.com

Tennis:  The City offers a wide variety of youth tennis classes, such as motor skills develops for 3-6 year olds through advanced play and team workouts for teens and young adults.  Our tennis camps offer opportunities for further skill development and match play.  Beverages are provided for all tennis camps. 

Volleyball: The City offers beginning and intermediate level classes.  For ages 8-11, passing, setting and spiking skills are introduced.  For ages 12-14, skills are further developed, and real game situations are taught.  For more information on these volleyball classes, visit the Club VIP website or call (510) 396-4875.
