Financial Assistance The City offers a Fee Assistance Program and discounts on water and wastewater bills, while another privately-funded program (the Wiesner Senior Fund) offers one-time emergency grants.

Senior Services: Through the Pleasanton Senior Center, you can make use of services, such as blood pressure checks, dental consultations, reverse mortgage counseling, foot care health screening, legal assistance, Medicare and HMO counseling, estate planning, and access to a notary public.

Support Groups: The Senior Center hosts a number of support groups that discuss Alzheimer’s Disease, caregivers, Parkinson’s Disease, handling grief, and services to help seniors maintain their health and independence.

Coffee and Conversation With the Experts:  Enjoy coffee while listening to experts on topics such as memory improvement, knee replacement, protection against identify theft, balance/coordination, arthritis, heart attacks, strokes, retirement living options, and long-term care insurance.  Reservations are not necessary, and nominal fees apply.

Computer Help:  The Senior Center offers tutoring for those requiring one-on-one help with computer use, as well as a Daytime PC Users Group for computer enthusiasts. See more information below.

  • Computer Tutors:  Struggling with your personal computer?  Can’t figure out the Internet?  Having trouble with software?  Try one-on-one tutoring.  For reservations or more information, call (925) 931-5365.  Drop-in fees apply.

  • Daytime PC Users Group:  If you’re a computer enthusiast, or even just curious about computers in general, drop in on these group meetings to share information through demonstrations, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions.  To get the most out of the group, you should already own and use a personal computer.  Meetings are usually held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon.  For more information, e-mail pleasenior@yahoo.com, or call (925) 931-5365.  Drop-in fees apply.
