The Crime Prevention Unit of the Pleasanton Police Department is happy to provide educational presentations on a number of issues (personal safety, neighborhood watch, etc). These presentations can be tailored to almost any group. The entire list of presentations is on the Pleasanton Police Department website.
“Are You Okay?” (“RUOK”) is a program offered by the Police Department to assist the elderly in our community. Persons involved in the program receive a computer-generated phone call each day that registers that they are okay. If, after several calls, the subscriber still does not answer, a police officer is dispatched to the residence to check on the status of the person. The calls can come everyday or only on specified days (most subscribers have the call each day). The calls come in the morning, generally between 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. depending on how long it takes the computer to get through the list. A subscriber can advise us they will be gone, for whatever reason, ahead of time, by calling the police department, so that they are not bound to the house by the calls. Contact Officer Penelope Tamm at (925) 931-5233 for more information about this program.
The Police Department’s Traffic Division offers a senior driver safety course for those that need to refresh their driving skills. For more information, please contact the Police Department’s non-emergency line at (925) 931-5100, and ask for the Traffic Division.
