The City of Pleasanton is committed to protecting the health of its community and limiting the spread of COVID-19. To adhere to the Alameda County Health Department's order to shelter in place issued March 16, all City of Pleasanton offices are temporarily closed and city government meetings have been suspended. We will work to conduct essential business directly impacting health and safety. Please visit the city's COVID-19 site for the latest updates as well as a link to the Alameda County order.
The library is dedicated to supporting PUSD students with a variety of online academic resources. From eBooks to database research to test prep, the library is here to help students succeed. Click here for more information.
Picking up your holds has never been easier!
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 1-6 p.m.
Friday & Saturday (*New Hours!) 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
1. Place up to ten (10) holds in the web catalog
2. Wait for a confirmation notification your holds are ready-for-pickup
3. Two options for pickup:
As we are experiencing high hold volume, please allow seven (7) business days to receive a confirmation notification that your holds are ready-for-pickup. If you receive multiple messages stating more holds are ready-for-pickup, we will bring all holds to the sidewalk pickup table at the same time.
Can't get enough books to check out? Want to read something new, but aren't sure where to start? Library staff will select BOOK BUNDLES for kids, teens, and adults! Click here for more information.
How do I return materials when the library is closed?
The library book drop is now open. Located to the right of the main entrance, the external book drop is open to accept returned library and Link+ materials. Donated materials will not be accepted.
In an abundance of caution, returned library materials are being set aside and then cleared from accounts after four (4) days. Thank you for your patience.
What happens to the items I had on hold?
We paused all prior holds during the closure period. You will now be able to pick up your holds via the Sidewalk Service procedure above.
While we understand this may delay holds for patrons still waiting for materials, our staff will be purchasing additional copies of popular items to shorten wait times.
When will I be able to use LINK+ again?
We are eager to bring back LINK+ to the Library. However, the entire Library team is occupied in fulfilling 1,000+ hold requests each week for the community. Additionally, only a limited number of staff are permitted to work within the Library facility to physically process all of the requests, in accordance with County health and safety orders. As it stands, we are working hard to keep pace with existing demand to ensure requests are fulfilled quickly and wait times are kept to a minimum. But, we will look at bringing back LINK+ at the earliest availability.
Are you still accepting book donations?
Out of an abundance of caution for public health and safety, we must decline any donations through the end of the year 2020. Thank you for your understanding.
What other library services are available while the building is closed?
The library offers digital resources, eBooks and streaming content for all ages and interests. Visit the library’s website and click on the “eBooks / Streaming / Research” tab on the left.
What if I need to get a library card?
Getting a new library card has never been easier! Visit the Library website to apply online for an eCard to access digital resources, streaming videos, eBooks and more!
I think my library card is expired. How can I renew it?
Good news! The Library has renewed all expired library cards so community members can continue to access digital resources.
Can I still contact the library?
Absolutely! Even with the facility closure, phone lines are open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (excluding holidays), with library staff that would love to help you discover online resources, provide reading recommendations, assist with simple research and answer your questions.
